XYPEN Solid Mechanical Carpenter Pencil Set

XYPen Professional Solid Mechanical Carpenter Pencil & Layout Marking Set

Engineered for carpenters, timber framing builders, architects, and precision woodworkers, the XYPen Solid Mechanical Carpenter Pencil Set delivers uncompromised accuracy across harsh job site conditions. This heavy-duty multi-tool layout kit combines three 2.8 mm deep-hole mechanical construction pencils featuring a 45 mm elongated stainless steel nose to mark effortlessly through narrow drilled openings, brackets, and pipe channels where standard pencils cannot reach. Also included are three 2.0 mm knurled metal drafting pencils for razor-sharp blueprint markings, one knurled tungsten carbide metal scriber for scoring hardened steel, sheet metal, and ceramics, and one adjustable spring-loaded automatic center hole punch for slip-free drill bit alignment. Supported by 36 heavy-duty refills—including 12 solid 2.8 mm leads in high-contrast black graphite, wax red, and wax yellow, plus 24 durable 2.0 mm graphite leads—each deep-hole pencil features a screw-in pocket cap equipped with an integrated lead sharpener for instant tip refacing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the colored refills mark clearly on dark or wet wood?
Yes, the red and yellow 2.8 mm wax-based refills are formulated specifically to provide bright, high-contrast visibility on dark timber, rough lumber, oily metal, and damp surfaces.

How do I sharpen the 2.8 mm deep-hole pencil lead?
Simply unscrew the push-button cap from the top of the pencil; the inside contains a dedicated sharpener. Insert the lead tip and twist gently to restore a needle-sharp point.

What is the purpose of the automatic center punch?
The spring-loaded center punch delivers an automatic high-impact strike without requiring a hammer, creating a precise starter dimple that prevents drill bits from skidding on wood or metal.
